For roofing and other types of exterior construction applications, copper is the builder's metal of choice. Copper is beautiful,durable and-since it is virtually maintenance free-highly cost effective.

Interior Architectural Applications

The bright, golden tone of polished brass and the deep, rich color of bronze have made these copper-based alloys popular for a wide range of interior architectural applications, including doorknobs, kick plates, panic bars, entranceways and elevators. Revere produces brass strip with close control of grain for maximum formability with out fracture or "orange peel." We take extreme care throughout the production process to generate the kind of clean, smooth surface that can be polished to a high luster.

Some of these measures include frequent brushing of the surface, careful grinding and plating of our work rolls, close atmospheric control during the critical anneal stage, the application of stain inhibitors, and the use of shrink wrap and desiccants during shipment. These processes are proof that no effort is too great to produce and deliver the finest quality brass strip available.

Electrical Equipment

The primary use for copper is the distribution and control of electricity due to copper's superior conductivity. In fact, copper's conductivity (100%) is the international standard by which the conductivity of all other materials is measured. In terms of energy efficiency, space requirements and corrosion resistance, copper is the lowest cost, commercially available material for electrical applications.

Revere produces electrical-grade copper in many forms-rectangular bar, extruded shapes, round rod, coil, sheet and plate. Within these broad product groups, we make specialty items for electrical equipment manufacturers, such as:

coils with burr-free edges for transformer windings, rectangular bars with silver coating, extruded shapes designed to meet specific customer needs, while reducing customer machining costs and scrap. These same products are also available in Revere's high-conductivity, oxygen-free coppers.

Industrial Machinery & Equipment

Copper and its alloys offer manufacturers of heavy industrial machinery and equipment a unique combination of properties. These metals offer excellent thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance strength, machinability, resistance to bio-fouling, and ease of joining by brazing or welding. For these reasons, manufacturers of heat exchangers for the utility, petrochemical processing, desalination, and marine industries look to Revere's New Bedford Division for high-quality copper-based alloys to use in header, baffle and support plate applications.
